Biography
Vienna, Imperial chapel of Ferdinand I, 1527. A “Don Roderigo” is listed in the first inventory of the household of Ferdinand I, made on 1 January 1527 (Munich, Staatsarchiv [formerly Kreisarchiv] Faszikel H. L. Freising 317), as one of the five chaplains in Ferdinand’s chapel at Vienna. The new regulations governing the chapel stipulated that it should include “a first chaplain and besides him four chaplains who have good voices and can sing” (Ainen obristen Caplan vnnd sonst vier Caplen, die guet Stimb haben vnnd singen konnden). Unlike the four other chaplains, Don Roderigo was only employed in Vienna; when the court was in Munich, his place was taken by Christof Langkutsch*.
