“On 18 July 1556 he dedicated a set of ten chansons spirituelles to his cousin Michel de Francqueville, Abbot of St Aubin, Cambrai; on the title-page of this work, the second volume of Jardin musical (RISM 155618), he described himself as maître de chapelle to the Queen of France, Catherine de' Medici, at that time resident in Brussels. All his known works – five secular and 11 sacred chansons – were published by Phalèse at Louvain (in RISM 155213, 155333, 155424, 155520) and Waelrant & Laet at Antwerp (155617, 155618 and 155619, ed. in SCC, i–ii, 1992). “
