Cousin was one of a number of singers of the chapel of Fran?ois I to receive benefices and favors from Leo X.26
RS 1368, fol. 177v. supplication dated 3 September, 1511. Cousin, described as a singer in the King's chapel, has resigned the parish church of Cauches in the diocese of Lisieux to Henricus Clurtin, a papal notary. Cousin is to get a pension of 30 livres tournois.
RS 138g,fol. 224r. supplication dated 25June, 11 2. Cousin, described as rector of the parish church of Cuy and Sermonest in the diocese of Soissons [and not as a singer in any royal chapel],27 asks for a dispensation to allow him to hold two incompatible benefices.

COUSIN Guillaume [av. 1511 - ap. 1518] Chantre de la chapelle de Louis XII et de François Ier. Compositeur. Guillaume Cousin fut membre de la chapelle royale depuis au moins 1511, date à laquelle il résigna l’église paroissiale de Cauches, dans le diocèse de Lisieux . En juin 1512, un autre document le dit recteur de l’église paroissiale de Cuy , dans le diocèse de Soissons. Il y demandait une dispense pour conserver ces deux bénéfices incompatibles . Il participa aux obsèques de Louis XII, en janvier 1515. Un an plus tard, il fut du nombre des chantres de la chapelle de François Ier qui obtinrent une dispense de bénéfices de la part de Léon X, à la suite de l’entrevue de Bologne, en décembre 1515 . Son nom se trouve une dernière fois dans le compte de la Chapelle pour 1517-1518.

Qualifié dès 1506 de chantre de la chapelle royale originaire du diocèse de Noyon (A.D. du Loir-et-Cher, E743, f. 26v, document aimablement communiqué par Ted Dumitrescu,), il est toujours au service de la chapelle en 1518. Cité comme chanoine de Saint-Quentin en 1516 dans un document du Vatican (Heyink 1992, p. 51), il était aussi devenu chanoine et trésorier de la Sainte-Chapelle de Dijon le 5 avril 1514, où il est cité jusqu’en 1518, bien qu’il ne semble jamais avoir résidé sur place (A.D. de la Côte d’Or, G 1522, f. 5v et G 1139). Aucune trace de sa carrière après 1518 n’a été mise au jour.
